I first tried making Kombucha about 4-5 years ago. I hadn't made it in a long time due to having small kids and working full time.
I started my very first batch of KT on a bottle of GT Dave's Raw Original Kombucha. It turned out okay, but my most recent batch is really good and I had a one inch thick SCOBY after a month of fermenting.
I live in a cooler environment in the Pacific Northwest, so the warmth is not always needed to produce a good thick SCOBY. The cooler conditions will create a more mellow brew.
My recipe: I used 2 bottles of GT's, 6 Organic Green tea bags to 6 cups water and 1 cup sugar. This made a large batch.
